CAIRO – 17 January 2018: There is a lot of competition for fashion designers in the Egyptian market. Yet there is no need to compete when you can join forces and create something that is equally beautiful as it is transformative for you brand.
In this case, Cotton Ball reached out to Kojak, one of Egypt’s most provocative designers, to create a ‘Not So Basic Collection’ in which the designers reveal what each does best.
“These collaborations are all about talking who we are as Cottonball and adding a new spirit onto it, Kojak is the complete opposite of Cottonball; he’s extremely recognizable and has a strong aesthetic and design, so it was a good place for us to meet in the middle.” Zena Sallam, CCO of Cottonball said in a statement.
Cotton Ball creates basic and minimal items that everyone needs to have in their closet. The products are 100% Egyptian, starting from the cotton up to the manufacturing process.
Whereas Kojak is known for his sense of taste and bold fashion that aims to provoke and makes a cultural statement.
“I wanted to create pieces that are motivational and intimate- just like a fortune cookie, this collection is created out of my everyday comfortable wear.” Mohanad Kojak, Chief designer of Kojak commented on the collaboration.
The collection’s main player is Egyptian cotton when it comes to fabric and texture. The collection’s pastel colors, classic black and white will catch the attention of any Instagrammer as the skirts, T-shirts, cropped sweaters, suspended pants and skirts are all accompanied with hidden messages like ‘Cauz I got it from my mama’, ‘Cauz I posted’, ‘Cauz lol and ttyn,’ and ‘lol’ to express what it is like to be part of the digital and social media influencer era.
