CAIRO - 29 November 2017: If exploration or a short drive for one day is what you are looking for, then Ain Sokhna is definitely your destination.

Located 55 km south of Suez and 120 km east of Cairo, Ain Sokhna is a town in Suez governorate lying on the western shore of the Red Sea, and it is the closest resort town to Cairo.

The town is located near Ataqa Mountain — the Eastern Desert’s northernmost mountain — and its sulfur healing springs that flow from Ataqa is the reason the place got this name, which translates as “hot spring.”

Being a year-round sunshine destination with gentle waves of the Red Sea and its close proximity to Egypt’s capital city makes Ain Sokhna the ideal destination to have a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters are the main reasons Ain Sokhna is known as a center for deep-sea fishing, let alone the resort’s diving centers that rank among the world's premier diving locations and famous for its wind and kite surfing too.

Water sports aren’t the only attractions this resort town can offer, as Ain Sokhna is also a favorite for underwater photography, as well as an ideal site for camping. With a constant breeze, windsurfing is also popular. On land, desert safaris in the nearby oasis and canyons add to the list of attractions at Ain Sokhna.
