Markle is a model, actress and humanitarian; she was born in Los Angeles in 1981, and grew up in Hollywood. Her mother is a social worker, yet it was through her father’s job that she became interested in acting as she would visit the movie sets he would be working on as a light director.

She received a Bachelor’s degree in theater and international relations from Northwestern University. Markle would go on to work at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires. As part of her humanitarian work in 2016, Markle became a global ambassador for World Vision Canada with the objective to provide clean, safe water for everyone. She is mainly known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit TV show "Suites" which began in 2011, and she will depart after the seventh season to marry Prince Harry.

She met Prince Harry on a blind date. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Markle commented on her relationship with Prince Harry saying "We're two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people's perception."

Prince Harry and Markle announced their engagement on November 27 Where Prince Harry presented to Markle an engagement ring that has three diamonds from his mother 's jewelry collection. It is said that after their marriage Prince Harry will become the Duke of Sussex and Markle will be the Duchess of Sussex.


Fun fact:
In order to gain extra income, while she was in the beginning of her acting career, Markle worked as a freelance calligrapher.
