CAIRO – 17 November 2017: Having a baby is one of the most exciting and at the same time intimidating human experiences, yet it is also one of the most intimate and emotional experiences ever.
Here are five things you should know about newborn babies and the experience of having them around according to WebMD’s website:
They sleep more than you think: Even though they wake up constantly, usually screaming, newborn babies sleep around 16 hours per day and wake up to eat or change diapers. As they get older, babies tend to sleep more during the night than during the day.
They usually sleep facing right: Around 85 percent of babies prefer to sleep facing the right side while sleeping on their back for the first few months, which might have something to do with why so many people are right-handed, according to WebMD’s website.
Babies are not born smelly: As they form and until they are born, babies are protected inside the mother’s womb against any type of bacteria and germs. That also explains why their first poop is never smelly as it consists of fluids which the baby digested inside the mother and it is not until after a day or so of feeding the baby that their feces start gaining the usual colors and smell.
They cry a lot: Even if it is scary for parents at first, it is not always because of pain when babies cry, they cry for many other reasons such as hunger, wet diapers and sleepiness, so there is no need to worry unless you think they are unsafe and no one is watching them.
They are a life-changing form of attention-attractors: As soon as you have a baby you will find yourself becoming a part of a worldwide community of people who know what you are going through, people who are curious about it and people who really think that their baby is the cutest baby ever.
Cherish every moment of it.
