The 90’s icon and dream girl rose to fame after she appeared in the cult favorite “Heathers,” which is now considered a classic teen movie.

Ryder has won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award for her roles in “The Age of Innocence” and “Little Women.”

Winona Laura Horowitz is the daughter of an author, video producer, bookseller and publisher. She was born in Olmsted County, Minnesota in 1971 and raised in a Californian commune that had no electricity.

She chose her celebrity name Ryder when she was asked how she wanted her name to be written in the film credits and a Mitch Ryder album was playing.
