CAIRO – 2 October 2017: Al-Ahrash protectorate is one of Egypt's most gorgeous national parks. It is located in the North-Eastern corner of Egypt, near the borders with Palestine. The protectorate is a natural resource which the government seeks to protect and reserve. The government wants to protect the soil, plants, water resources, and the many types of wild life, which inhabit or immigrate to the protectorate. Here are five things you should know about Al-Ahrash:

- It stretches over 6 square kilometers (3.7 square miles) of sand dunes.
- It is located in the North-Eastern part of Egypt in Rafah, North Sinai, right on the border with Palestine.
- It reaches the height of 60 meters (197 feet) above sea level.
- It is rich in plants such as Acacia trees, Tamarix trees, Camphora trees, bushes, herbs, and many other types of plants which work as anchors that hold down the sand dunes inside the protectorate.
- This huge plant cover works on enriching the soil with water, preserving the level of underground water. It also attracts many tourists to visit the protectorate for its breathtaking wild life diversity.
