CAIRO - 3 September 2017: Photographers’ lenses today in Gharbia governorate show the beauty and authenticity of two important cities of trade, industry and agriculture.
In an attempt to reveal the beauty of every Egyptian city, parallel to the mainstream images of the country, Alexandria-based Adasa Photography Club launched the “Egypt Again” project in 2016 to document landmarks and everyday life through the lenses of its talented photographers.
Gharbia governorate is located in the north of Egypt, west of the Nile Delta. Its capital is Tanta, which is 90 km north of Cairo and 120 km southeast of Alexandria. The largest city in Gharbia is Al Mahalla Al Kubra.
Tanta is located between Cairo and Alexandria and is the capital of Gharbia governorate. It is a center for the cotton-ginning industry and contains one of the major railway lines in Egypt.
Three annual festivals are held in Tanta in the honor of Sheikh Ahmad El-Badawi, who founded the “Badawiya Tariqa” Sufi order in Egypt and is buried in the main mosque of Tanta.
