Hayek was born on September 2, 1966. She is a Mexican-American actress born to Spanish-Lebanese parents and belongs to a wealthy Roman Catholic family from Mexico.
Her first acting role was in 1989, in the Mexican telenovela “Teresa”. Her first major work was in the 1994 award-winning Mexican movie “El Callejón de los Milagros” (Miracle Alley).

Hayek’s grandmother regularly shaved her head and eyebrows because she thought it would make her hair grow thicker, glossier and darker.
