SHARM EL SHEIKH, Aug 24 2017: Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathy said on Thursday Egypt is among the world's best 20 in airport security.

The minister made the remarks during a regional aviation security conference which was held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Egypt managed to go beyond some of the international standards for civil aviation safety measures, he said, adding this is a model for commitment and respect to standards.

Speaking on the conference’s objectives, the Egyptian minister said it was held to adopt a roadmap to foster aviation security. It is meant to ensure global aviation security and apply international standards of air transport security

A document was drafted to cover aviation security files of mutual interest, the minister said, adding the participating ministers reached an agreement regarded six items.

The event is held under the slogan "Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP): The Roadmap to Foster Aviation Security in Africa and the Middle East".

It ran from 22 to 24 August, with the participation of some 400 officials involved in aviation and security issues.
