Yves Saint Laurent’s birthday

CAIRO –1 August 2017: Yves Saint Laurent was born on August 1, 1936 and he passed away on June 1, 2008. The Algerian French fashion designer had a great impact on the fashion industry.

At the age of 17 he went and lived in Paris to work in the fashion industry, then he showed his drawing to Michel De Brunhoff the director of Vogue magazine in France who published them immediately; the following year he got into the Chambre syndicale de la couture and soon won his first place in the competition for designing cocktail dress.

In 1955 after he won the award, Laurent got introduced to Christian Dior and worked for him until the death of Christian Dior. In 1962, he set his own fashion house, and his last show was in 2002.
