Boats on the river. Before the age of cars and railway, rivers were the natural highways - Monika Sleszynska
CAIRO - 30 July 2017: Are you tired of city traffic? Do you wonder if there could be another way of life and travel? There certainly is another way. Living in a city, it might be strange to imagine a day without seeing a car. Traffic is a major part of modern city lifestyle, however it has not always been this way and there are parts of the world untouched by the car wheels.
Modern vehicles are not the only existing mean of transportation. Days without cars allow more holistic approach to the body. There are many places in Egypt where you can have a break from hearing the engines and breathing the fumes. If you stay inside Red Sea Resorts or do desert and mountain trekking you can surely spend days without needing to use a car or even seeing one. Times without a car are not exclusive to holiday and adventures in nature. It is easy to imagine life without cars on holiday but did you know that there is a car free lifestyle in some cities all year round?
There are numerous places around the world, which function without cars and they have always been this way despite the invention and evolution of automobiles. They certainly run a different life style but why not consider that too? The great grandfather of modern gasoline engine automobile was born in late 19th century; this means that cars have recently appeared in our lives; only 2.5 centuries ago.
Before then life went on and about without it. Would that not be a fun to sample life like it used to be centuries ago? Don’t we all get thrilled at the thought of time travel and finding ourselves in a different era? Giving up the car could certainly bring us closer to living the way before the era of automobiles. There is good news for the luxury lovers; there are many places on the globe offering opportunity to live without cars, while at the same time offering a five star service. There is no need to go to Amazon jungle, Himalayas or become part of the African tribal community in order to survive without a car.
If you are tired of cars, looking for a travel idea, the series “Four seasons without a car” presents locations in four countries on three continents, where you can spend your time car free; the locations are highly desired tourist places and some have been a background to famous movie scenes. If you are thinking of taking up a one year gap or spend a year like Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of “Eat, Pray, Love” book, this series will give you an idea about fascinating destinations, where you can stay for months and will not need a car, and you will not see anyone; the series “Four seasons without a car” presents one location for each season: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and each of these places is rich in historical spots, splendid natural scenery and interesting culture. You may still need a car to get to these places, however nothing is impossible and if you are up for a ‘no car ‘adventure, it could be managed with special arrangements and would make a great story to tell, as boats, donkeys, trains and horse carriages are the options.
