“Your 20s are the best years of your life” is one of the most quoted sayings you hear during your life. That moment you hit puberty and feel confused and weird about growing up, this quote is your lifeline during your teenage years. Afterward, you turn 20 and it’s even more confusing, more depressing but fun, youthful, and exciting. So far so good, your 20s are a decade filled with all things and its opposite, however, the moment you turn 29, your face gets white (along with your hair 🙁)  and it daunts on you, your 20s are about to end, the “youthful” phase will be soon gone and it scares you.

You feel like entering your 30s is this nightmare of adulthood and freaks you out. The way that people describe entering your 30s is like having one step into the grave, while age is just a number, the 30s are advertised as a phase where you should have all things figured out, that you should be mature and stable.

So let me break it down to you, may I? Entering your 30s isn’t the end of the world, it’s only the beginning.
I know you think that this is absurd and your mind cannot fathom this idea because society has trained you to embrace your 20s with passion and excitement and told you to settle and slow down once you hit your 30s. We have seen it, whether from men or women, the moment they hit the big 3 O, they’re like, maybe I should lay low, not go out, maybe start a family…etc.

While there’s nothing wrong with wanting to settle down, everyone’s lives are different as some people didn’t have the luxury nor the privilege to enjoy their lives when they were in their 20s. Does it mean that if they have the time to be wild and experience something new in their 30s, that’s not acceptable?
Who dictated that rule? Who said that you should be held down and stop living life?
Do not let what people say about entering your 30s hold you back from exploring and enjoying life, if we follow the logic of adhering to the famous saying, then we should follow the “YOLO” ideology, right?

We cannot deny that ageism runs deep in our society, making us feel incapacitated, but if we let go and stop worrying about what people think and start loving all phases and ages we come to, we will have more fulfilling life.
