There are a lot of elements that can contribute to a flawless makeup look, whether it’s the face complexion itself, the products that you’re using, how well you prep your face or even your technique. But, let’s be real we’ve all made some makeup mistakes along the way. No shame in that though, it’s all part of the learning process. Here are a few common ones you might want to steer clear of to keep your makeup game strong.

1. Skipping Skin-Prep
Skipping the moisturizers, primers before doing your makeup is like painting on a rough canvas. Your products won’t blend well together, thus your makeup will look patchy and cling to dry areas, so don't be shy when it comes to prepping your skin.

2. Applying Too Much Concealer
Packing on concealer on your under-eyes, especially if it’s a much lighter shade than your skin tone won't remove those dark circles. Opt for skin correctors first, then add a small amount of concealer to avoid caking.

3. Overlining Your Lips
We all love that pouty lip look, but overdoing it can look unflattering and unnatural. Start by just oveling your cupid’s bow and underneath the middle of the bottom lip and follow the lip's natural lip line.

4. Overdoing the Powder
Powder is great for setting makeup particularly if your makeup includes lots of cream products, but too much can leave your face looking cakey and dull. Less is more and focus on your T-zone or areas where you tend to get oily.

5. Not Washing Your Makeup Brushes
When used frequently, makeup brushes collect bacteria, oil, and leftover product, which can clog your pores and cause breakouts, and can even ruin your makeup look. Make sure you wash your makeup brushes and sponges regularly.

6. Neglecting Your Eyebrows
Your brows frame your face, and can enhance your makeup look. Ignoring them or going overboard can throw off your whole look, so keep them natural and gently fill any sparse areas with an eyebrow pencil or powder.
