The air route comes in light of the Civil Aviation Ministry's efforts to boost air and tourism traffic by linking tourist attractions with each other.
Civil Aviation Minister Sameh el Hefny said his ministry moves ahead with implementing a national strategy to increase inbound tourism to Egypt to attract 30 million tourists by 2028, by enhancing air traffic to Egyptian tourist cities.
Air Cairo seeks to take advantage of its air fleet and expand its network of routes, through opening new air points locally and internationally to meet the needs of travelers, the minister added.
On Monday, Air Cairo operated its first flight, which carried 70 tourists on board, from Cairo International Airport to Aswan International Airport and to Abu Simbel Airport.
