St. Catherine awaits promising tourism future as new major projects to inaugurate

CAIRO - 30 October 2024: The city of St. Catherine is waiting for a promising tourism future in conjunction with the completion of the Great Transfiguration Project and the beginning of the operation of St. Catherine Airport.

 

According to Dr. Atef Abdel Latif, a member of the South Sinai Investors Association, the process of completing St. Catherine Airport as soon as possible is important, as strong marketing plans and promotional programs are being prepared in coordination between the Ministries of Aviation and Tourism, travel organizers abroad and the business community in the tourism sector.

 

Dr. Atef Abdel Latif pointed out, in a Wednesday statement, the necessity of developing a complete vision for the London Tourism Exchange, which will start next week, to promote the charming city and what it enjoys as an unparalleled religious, tourist and environmental landmark, while shedding light on the Great Transfiguration Project and the city's unique religious and heritage monuments and landmarks.

 

He further stressed that the city of Saint Catherine has comparative and competitive advantages that no one can compete with. 

 

He added that St. Catherine can be a destination for global tourism and Christian pilgrimage around the world, due to the presence of the only place where God was adorned with His light, the Monastery of Saint Catherine, Mount Moses, and the Blessed Tree, as well as the current project of the Great Transfiguration, which is about to be completed.

 

The landmarks, history, and civilization of the city of Saint Catherine must be highlighted greatly within the London Tourism Exchange, he continued.

 

Dr. Atef Abdel Latif suggested working on marketing the city of Saint Catherine with its own tourism programs, linking it to the path of the Holy Family in the governorates of Egypt, and preparing tourism programs that combine Saint Catherine, Sharm El-Sheikh, Taba, Dahab, and Nuweiba.

 

He pointed out that this type of tourism in St. Catherine greatly appeals to East Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as Greece, European countries and African countries.
