Are you bored of wearing neutral colors and want to step out of your comfort zone? As you seek some change, be careful since the right colors will complement and enhance your look, while the wrong color palette will have an opposing effect. You don’t need to be an expert to be able to decide which color palette suits you the best. Once you know the tips and tricks, it will be easy to color-analyze yourself. All you need to do is determine your skin’s undertone; according to your undertone, there will be colors that you should stick to and others that should be avoided.

Skin undertone is not related to your skin color, it is the natural color below your skin's surface. There are three main skin undertones: warm, cool, and neutral. Warm undertones have a yellow or golden hue, cool undertones have a pink or blue hue and neutral undertones have a mix of both warm and cool hues.  Here are 3 different tests to determine your skin tone.

The White Paper Test
Hold a piece of white paper close to your face and compare how your skin looks in contrast to that piece of paper. If you have a contrast that leans towards green, light brown, or yellow undertones, then you definitely have a warm skin tone. If your skin looks pink, rosy, or blue, you have cool undertones. Lastly, if your skin appears gray or ashen, your skin tone is neutral.

The Vein Test
Look at the veins on your wrist or palm. If you have green-looking veins, it indicates warm undertones. Blue or purple veins mean that you have cool undertones. And if you have a mix or you can’t decide between them, then you have neutral undertones.

The Jewellery Test
Which kind of jewelry looks more attractive on your skin, gold, silver, or rose gold? Under natural light, wear gold jewelry on one wrist and silver on the other. Look at each hand to figure out which enhances your complexion better. If it’s the silver, then you are probably cool-toned while if it’s the gold, you’re probably warm-toned. You are neutral-toned if it is difficult to determine which is better moreover wearing rose gold looks more appealing on your skin.

After determining your skin tone, the color chart below will help you match your clothing colors to your skin tone.
