In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to fall into the trap of constantly being glued to our screens, it’s a reality that’s both sad and true. From our buzzing notifications to our endless scrolling through homepages and feeds, our smart devices have been an integral part of our lives, perhaps too much to the point that it’s becoming a burden more than a source of entertainment.
So when is it too much? And how to tell if you are in need of a digital break? Here are some surefire signs that suggest it might be time to take a step back and recharge.
 
1. You’re Getting Easily Distracted
Whether you’re studying, working or even practicing a personal hobby you can’t help but check your phone every other minute thus getting distracted and caught up with your phone. You struggle to concentrate and finish your tasks in due time.

When you excessively use your digital devices, you are exposing yourself to more stress and anxiety than usual and that is due to feeling the constant pressure of being online and connected and you are also exposed to the negative side of social media.
 
3. You’re Having Trouble Sleeping
Struggling to fall asleep or waking up frequently during the night? Excessive screen time, especially before bed, can interfere with your sleep patterns. Also, the blue light from screens can mess with your circadian rhythm which is your body’s natural internal clock that regulates the sleep-wake cycle over a 24-hour period.
 
4. You’ve Forgotten How to Enjoy Offline Activities
If you can’t remember the last time you had fun without your digital devices, then it’s time to log off and start re-discovering the joy of offline activities.
