Our friend group is a vital part of our lives. We get to see each other grow and flourish throughout the years and it’s certainly heartwarming to share your life with them, but what happens when your so-called friend group is no longer a haven for you?

We tend to outgrow people sooner or later in our lives, and sometimes it is for the best because it is still considered personal growth even if it means drifting off people you love. Feeling lost and wondering if it is time to leave? Then this article is for you. Here are some surefire signs that you should leave your friend group behind.

1. You feel alone when they’re around
Feeling lonely while you're with them is one of the most obvious signs.  It’s like you’re an intruder or an outsider when you’re with them and don't feel like engaging in any of their conversations or activities.

2. Lack of respect
Mutual respect is the cornerstone of any relationship, and if it's not there, it’s a major red flag. Whether it’s mocking you or belittling your opinions and feelings, these are all signs of disrespect, indicating that they don't value you enough.

3. Consistent drama
We know that friends like to gossip every now and then, maybe even stir up small harmless fights. However, if your friend group has constant drama and gossip whether within the group members or with outsiders this eventually will drain and exhaust you so take it as a sign to walk out.

4. You don't feel like yourself
If you feel that you have to wear a mask or even pretend to be someone else when you’re with your friends, rest assured this is not the right friend group for you. True friends should accept you for who you are and encourage you to be your true self, not to fake your personality.

5. They don't support you enough
True friends should be there for you through thick and thin, when you are at your worst they should be there for you nevertheless. If your friend group is absent at times when you need them, it’s a sign that they don’t care enough to be there for you.

Deciding to leave your friend group is never an easy choice to make, but it is crucial to prioritize your happiness and remember that it is okay to outgrow some people, this will make more room for better people to enter your life.
