They say that confidence is built in, however, not all of us are Beyonce and can say “I woke up like this, flawless.” it takes time, character development, and multiple tries to be comfortable in your skin and be fierce. Once you feel confident and in control, life throws you off your game and makes you doubt your skills, which happens to all of us and it’s completely normal to lose our mojos occasionally. So what do we do when we are down? How can we get up and pick ourselves up? Here are a few simple yet effective things you can do to gain confidence and be your hype man.
1- Daily Affirmation
Daily affirmations are considered mental exercises. They are like chants, but instead of chanting to your favorite sports team or singer, you become your cheerleader.
Empower yourself the moment you wake up, doesn’t matter if you wake up late or with bed head, just relish in the fact that you are alive and it’s a brand new day, even if it started badly, you’ll survive it. Manifest a good day and avoid negative thoughts.
2- Listen to Your Favorite (Non Depressive) Songs
We know that Mitski is an artist with a capital A but why start your day gloomy, when you can listen to happy songs (No bashing to Queen Mitski, of course.) Just like daily affirmations, happy songs can boost your mood and make you ready to conquer the world, even if you start the day badly.
3- Have a Self-Care Day
Confidence is about practice from the inside out, first, let’s talk about self-care day mentally and physically. Mentally, try to avoid any triggers, go off the grid for a while, try meditation, and read a self-help book, so you can reach zen peace of mind. And now for the physical part, you can always rely on a good face mask, hair treatment, spa day, and massages. Pamper yourself and don’t overthink anything.
4- Look the Part
Just like any good montage of a makeover in movies, confidences are usually gained by looking the part. We often hear the phrase “fake it till you make it” Well, even if you’re feeling down, a good outfit can brighten your day, and you are dressing for yourself. So pick your favorite clothes, be comfortable in your skin, and be your supermodel who rules the runway.
In short, the key to being your hype man stems from understanding that anyone has their not-so-great, bad days. Just because you went through a rough patch and didn’t accomplish the things you set yourself to do, doesn’t mean that you will fail in everything you do. Don’t surrender to negative thoughts and accept that a few bad situations will define your future, you are worthy of greatness, love, and success, just remember that it takes time and practice. To quote the great Michael Caine in Batman Begins “Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.”
