“New Year, New Me” At the end of each year, we look back at our lives and rewind each event that led us to where we are now, and with a new year coming up, we plan to elevate our lives in the coming year, determined not to repeat the same mistakes. We make resolutions to change our lives and try to be better people, whether going to the gym or picking up a new hobby, we are looking to the new year in anticipation so we can change our lives. However, something happens, we get busy and lazy, feel like we set the bar too high, and end up falling off the wagon. We lose the drive and the motivation to keep going and follow up with our resolutions. So what can we do to keep our resolutions? How can we follow up with follow up with all of the resolutions we set at the beginning of the year?
Here are some tips to help you follow up with your resolutions.
Plan Everything Ahead of Time
Let the excitement of starting a new year get you all pumped up and plan everything ahead of time. Check the things you want to achieve and write them in a list, with the order of priority and timeline of when you’re planning to do these resolutions.
Set Realistic Goals
The key to successful resolutions is setting realistic goals that you can achieve. We are not saying you shouldn`t set lofty goals but put goals that you know you can reach and accomplish without feeling overwhelmed. Remember this is about becoming a better person, and that process takes time, so don’t rush greatness.
Write Reminders on your Phone
The thing that makes us forget to follow up with our resolutions is life. Work, family, college…etc can be overwhelming and for these reasons, we tend to forget to follow up with resolutions so we can keep up with our daily life. One way to avoid this is to write reminders on your phone so you can keep track of your goals and be reminded to accomplish them.
Start With the Small Resolutions You Made
If you have 10 resolutions, start with the small ones. That way you won’t get overwhelmed and you can accomplish them, you can finish them easily and without taking too much time. That way you get a sense of accomplishment and feel motivated to complete the rest of your resolutions.
