As kids, we wished we grew up to enjoy the things we couldn’t get. Oh how we wished to be adults, have money, travel, and go outside without all the rules. We wanted not to do homework or worry about midterms and finals. Well, we entered adulthood, and boy is it a whirlwind. From finding a job to meeting a potential partner, adulthood kicked us into the real world without any preparation or warning.
After graduating college, everything escalated from a 0 to a 100 real quick and we were unprepared for it, so we tried to do everything at once. We get jobs, we try to save money, we stay after hours at work hoping it proves that we are capable of multi-tasking, we sacrifice quality time for the sake of maturity and we get desperate for any validation that tells us we are doing a good job.
In the end, we get stressed, burnt out, exhausted, and anxious, as our hair turns weak and grey, our skin breaks out and we look like zombies, we forget to enjoy life. While there’s nothing wrong with proving one’s self and being successful, it shouldn`t consume your life and not be at the cost of your health.
The hustle culture spreading to millennials and Gen Z is destroying the youth. It makes us feel that whatever we do, it will never be enough. For that you get lazy, and you develop a sense that if you’re not hustling, you are lazy and entitled.
We are here to tell you that taking things at your pace doesn’t make you inadequate or slow. It makes you human, with a life to live, and experiences to do.
Here are small reminders for you to make you live at peace when you feel like your work isn’t enough.
Stop Comparing. Your Journey is Different From Others.
In a world where social media is a gate to see everyone’s life, ups and downs, we end up comparing their accomplishments to ours. We develop envy and self-hatred. It should be noted that A) Not everything you see on social media is real.
B) Your journey and life are uniquely yours and their journey cannot be compared to yours.
Everyone has their own struggles and their own purpose, the fact they were able to achieve something does not mean that they didn’t make it easily.
Don’t Rush Things, Life will Catch Up with You.
This sounds a bit scary and pessimistic to say but, life’s tribulations and escapades will catch up with you. So don’t rush growing up or doing things fast. Life has its way of changing your path upside down. So why jump into hassle and stress when you can have peace and ease?
You Already Have Character Development, Even if It’s a Small Thing.
“A win is a Win” no matter how small it is, you already accomplished a lot of things you may not feel are accomplishments. The fact you were able to wake up and try your best is already a win. You better not let anyone tell you otherwise.
