Winter as we all know, is considered to be a tricky season for us because not only the weather is changing, but our skin is changing too. The tough conditions of winter such as rain, the strong drop in temperature, and dry wind, can significantly affect our skin condition. Some may face irritation, redness, or even flakiness due to the cold weather, leading to a damaged skin barrier.By following the tips below, we guarantee that your skin will be flawless, glowy, and ready to face the harshness of the winter weather.

1 Don’t over-exfoliate your skin
Exfoliating can be a great way to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin squeaky clean, but over-exfoliating may lead to inflammation or even worse, an acne breakout all of a sudden, that’s why dermatologists recommend exfoliating once or twice maximum per week.

2 Investing in facial serums
Having a facial serum added to your skincare routine will provide that extra moisture your skin craves during winter. Hyaluronic acid serums are the Holy Grail as they lock in moisture giving that plump, healthy look to your face. They also help in reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B is ideal for protecting your skin barrier thus giving you healthy skin.

3 Moisturizer is your best friend
Don’t we all hate having itchy flakey skin? That’s probably because the skin is too dry, Moisturizers or lotions that contain glycerin, shea butter, or ceramides are considered perfect ingredients to seal in moisture especially if they are applied right after a shower.

4 Drink plenty of water
Giving your skin the care it needs is not only limited to skin care, drinking enough water is essential in all seasons to prevent your skin from irritation and dullness especially during winter as people tend to drink less water leading to dryness.

5 Wear your sunscreen
Some may have the perception that sunscreen is not necessary during winter, which is false as the fact that it is mostly cloudy in winter does not necessarily mean that the sunrays are completely blocked. Sunscreen is considered an essential part of your skincare routine as it protects your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. They also must contain enough SPF to protect your skin fully.

These tips will surely level up your skincare routine, but always make sure that your products are cruelty-free and chemicals-free to protect your precious skin.
With all that being said, each skin is different than the other, and all skins are beautiful in their own way. If you are a newbie to the skincare world, just start with the basic steps like cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, then slowly incorporate more steps, but most importantly, always refer back to your dermatologist if needed.
