You can be the type of person who always has a plan for any expected scenario that might happen. However, no matter how well you prepare yourself with a plan for every scenario, things always come in the way, simply because life happens. Life is full of uncertainties, and the only certain thing is change. Change will always come our way, it’s inevitable, and change is not always pleasant or one that we waited for. But how adaptable are you to change, ambiguity, and uncertainty is what makes all the difference.
What is adaptability?
It is the ability to adjust to change that comes your way and having the flexibility to change the direction at any time when a situation forces us to.
Why is it important?
Adaptability helps us embrace change with calmness and composure. Sometimes change is tougher than we can handle like losing a job or a loved one. You can deny yourself some grieving time, however, resisting what happened not accepting it, or living in denial, makes it harder to move on.
It allows you to become calmer. Adaptability means understanding that some things we don’t have control over and that life works in mysterious ways. It’s human nature that we think negatively about change we didn’t want but when we accept our fate and try to adapt, life becomes somehow easier.
Adapting isn’t something that comes overnight. It’s a shift in mindset towards growth and flexibility. It needs a lot of reflection and practice. It is when you learn to readjust your thinking pattern in the face of change and manage your emotions in the face of uncertainties that you will become more adaptive, accepting, and will learn the meaning of inner peace.
