There are a lot of factors that help us get that flawless makeup look; from buying the right products to mastering technique application. Whether you are a makeup pro or a beginner, there are some makeup tricks and hacks that can take your look to a whole new level. Here are some makeup secrets you should try if you want to transform your makeup.

1. Scrub your lips before applying lipstick.
Do you know how it looks when you apply lipstick and doesn’t blend smoothly or look cracked, especially with matte lipsticks? That’s because your lips are dry and the lipstick doesn’t sit well on them making the dryness more obvious. Prep your lips with a scrub to get rid of all the dead skin and follow with a lip balm before you apply the lipstick for smooth and luscious lips.

2. Add a bit of translucent powder to your lashes for more volume.
If you want a false lash effect, try this tip. Apply the first layer of mascara then dust a small amount of translucent powder. After that, apply a second layer of mascara thoroughly to coat any powder traces. You will notice how this bit of powder has made your lashes full of volume.

3. Melt your pencil eyeliner to glide easier.
If your kajal pencil tugs or skips while applying it on your eyelid or if the same happens with your lip liner, it means it is getting dry. To fix it, hold your pencil eyeliner under a lighter for a few seconds then let it cool off.  Swatch it on your hand before you use it to make sure it’s not anymore. You will notice it running smoothly and that the color has become more vivid.

4. Avoid framing your entire eyes with dark eyeliner.
Framing your entire eye with thick, dark eyeliner such as kajal or liquid eyeliner will make your eyes look smaller. Even if you aim for a smokey eye look make sure you blend well with the eyeshadow. Instead, apply the eyeliner only on your upper lid and wing it a bit to make your eyes look bigger.

5.  Apply your foundation before the concealer.
This one may surprise you but the right way to do it is to apply your foundation before the concealer. Starting with the foundation will create a smooth layer, even out the complexion, and will already minimize any spots or redness. After having applied the foundation you can add small daps on any spots or discoloration remaining. If you start with the concealer it will be wiped out by the foundation when you blend both together.
