In pics: Charming View of Nile River from New Aswan Walkway

CAIRO – 30 May 2022: Egypt recently inaugurated the first phase of the New Aswan City, a residential and commercial area, 12 km from Aswan city on the east bank of the Nile River.

The New Aswan City is established on 22,000 feddans per a cabinet decree, to offer social housing for nearly 850,000 residents.

Nestled within the New Aswan’s project is the New Aswan Walkway in the far Upper Egypt. At a cost exceeding one billion Egyptian pounds, the walkway has been constructed as one of the river strip projects overlooking the Nile.

The walkway is implemented by the Ministry of Housing, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority.

It extends for 6 km, including 4,200 meters south of the Aswan Suspension Bridge and 1,800 meters north of the Aswan Suspension Bridge.

It includes recreational areas for hikers, shops, malls, wooden benches and rest areas overlooking the Nile directly.

The tourist walkway in the new city of Aswan is one of the river strip projects overlooking the Nile, which includes a villa area with a total of 66 villas and an open theater that can accommodate about 3,000 spectators and is ready to host various artistic, sports and cultural events.

The New Aswan City is located 12 km from the Nubian city of Aswan, in the south of Egypt on the east bank of the Nile River. Aswan is one of the most favorite destinations for tourists from the around the world, for its warm weather and significant archeological sites likes the Philae temple complex.
