We face more than enough stress at work, between tight deadlines, big projects, and endless task lists, that the last thing we want to deal with, adding to the stress we have already, are terrible coworkers. In every workplace, there is always a person or two – if not more – that we try to avoid by all means. From the ladder climber to the one who takes all the credits, it is these types of people that make our days at work even harder. While you can’t entirely avoid people at work, especially if your work both is intertwining, here are 7 types of coworkers you need to limit your interaction with.
The Ladder Climber
This person will do anything and everything to reach their objectives and won’t mind stepping over you along the way. They are usually suck-ups and bootlickers to everyone who is in a higher position or has authority. They are also usually backstabbers whenever your interest contradicts theirs, thinking that exposing you to others will make them privileged and closer to decision-makers.
The Show-Stealer
They always want to be under the spotlight. They, with utmost audacity, won’t mind taking credit for things they have not done or ideas that aren’t originally theirs. They barely get the job done themselves and instead might throw things on others and pretend it was all their hard work. This type of coworker usually doesn’t share knowledge and information because they are competitive and want to be the only one to shine.
The Know-It-All
They will constantly boss you around because they believe they know better than anyone around. They like things done their way and according to the instructions they give and are not open to new ideas or suggestions.
The Gossiper
While gossip happens almost in every workplace, gossipers feed on fishing for info and spreading news that is confidential or none of their business. They would interrogatively and slyly drag you into conversations you might not be comfortable about just to dig for something they want to know.
The Bully
Out of insecurity and intimidation, they will intentionally try to make a joke of you in front of other colleagues or people with authority to undermine your efforts or work quality. Office bullies would constantly pick on you and act mean all the time
