CAIRO – 5 February 2022: Dazzling performances by 800 camels from different Egyptian governorates continue as part of the activities of the third camel race in the Northern Coast.
The city of El Alamein hosts this race with milk-producing camels participating for the first time.
The races attracted thousands of fans from all governorates of Egypt and guests from Arab countries to participate in and watch them. Such event is considered a revival to the movement of buying and selling camels, as well as providing job opportunities for a number of young people, including camel trainers, sellers and dealers of various racing supplies.
Ayman Abu Dfayeh, owner of a camel from Ismailia, said that he traveled distances to participate in the race in El Alamein, and his goal is for his camels to be at the forefront of the race’s stardom and achieve winning achievements.
Abdullah Al-Jail, an expert in camel racing said that Egypt has advanced a lot in this sport and has become at the forefront with its authentic Arab camels and rare and strong breeds.
Dr. Hamad Shuaib, Vice-President of the Egyptian Camel Federation, said that the El Alamein camel race showed the strength of camel wealth in the western regions of Egypt through its participation, and encouraged camels from Matrouh tribes to participate. He added that these events created limitless job opportunities.
Sheikh Salama Abu El-Nada, head of the competitions committee of the Egyptian Camel Federation, said that the sport of camel racing has become honorable and raises the name of Egypt in all fields.
