CAIRO – 26 March 2021: Despite its strategic location, a park surrounding El-Kharga Airport in Egypt’s Western Desert has been neglected for around 20 years.
However, the park has turned into an artistic piece powered by solar energy. It stays on a 38 feddan land, including water surface, boats and playgrounds.
El-Kharga Airport serves the Kharga Oasis in the Western Desert. The park is relatively remote from the residential areas.
Wadi el-Gadid Governor Mohamed el-Zamalout instructed the park’s development to be the first destination for all visitors coming to Kharga Oasis.
Development works in the park are estimated at L.E. 400 million. Among the works is installing solar panels to illuminate the park.
The park also includes a Bedouin entertainment tent, which was established at the entrance of the city on an area of 2,000 square meters, where food and drinks are served to the visitors.
