Egyptian Publishers Association condemns joint-statement submitted at UN’s Human Rights Council on Egypt’s governmental policies

CAIRO – 17 March 2021: The Egyptian Publishers Association condemned the joint statement submitted by a number of countries at the United Nations’ Human Rights Council in Geneva, which criticizes the Egyptian government's policies in the field of human rights.

The Egyptian Publishers Association considered the statement a blatant and unacceptable interference in Egypt's internal affairs, adding that it promotes false allegations that are not based on any facts or evidence.

In a press statement made on March 17, the Egyptian Publishers Association stated that this approach from these countries is nothing but an expression of suspicious and well-known political goals, as the statement neglected Egypt's solid pivotal role in confronting and eliminating terrorism and preserving the security and stability of the entire region.

The Egyptian Publishers Association also stated that many facts in Egypt were neglected, including the civil societies that operate freely within the framework of the law inside Egypt.

Moreover, the association stressed that Egypt has exerted a remarkable effort in many human rights files and has made sure to adhere to all international standards while dealing with the file in a way that guarantees the promotion of humanitarian principles.

The association further highlighted Egypt’s unprecedented achievements in the field of health, the provision of a decent life through the presidential initiative to develop villages, in addition to other initiatives and reforms that work to establish a suitable social environment for citizens, asserting that such achievements have been overlooked.
