CAIRO - 16 March 2021: The artifacts that participated in the exhibition "Secrets of Sunken Egypt" returned to Egypt today, after the end of the exhibition’s tour abroad in the United States of America and a number of European countries.
Dr. Mostafa Waziry, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that the exhibition had achieved great success in all the cities where it was held, and that it was displaying a group of sunken Egyptian antiquities that were discovered under water in the Mediterranean Sea in Alexandria.
Dr. Waziry pointed out that the exhibition started its worldwide tour in a number of European countries, starting with the Institute of the Arab World in Paris in 2015, then moved to the British Museum in the United Kingdom and the Reichburg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, which was the last stop of its tour in Europe, to start after that its second tour in the United States.
The Exhibition went to four American cities, starting in 2018 in St. Louis, then the Minneapolis Museum of Art in Minneapolis, and the Ronald Reagan Museum at the Presidential Library in California, ending the tour at the Virginia Museum of Art in Virginia, after which it returned to the homeland of Egypt.
It is worth noting that the exhibition "Secrets of Sunken Egypt" included 293 artifacts from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the Alexandria National Museum, the Greco-Roman Museum, the Library of Alexandria Museum, and discoveries made by the General Department of Sunken Antiquities.
