CAIRO – 8 March 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem witnessed the celebration organized by the National Center for Translation headed by Karma Sami on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Professor of Greek Literature at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University Munira Karawan was honored as the Personality of the Year at the Taha Hussein Hall in the presence of a number of critics and translators.
Abdel Dayem said that celebrating International Women's Day and honoring Egyptian women figures on this day comes in recognition of their vital role in all areas of life, noting that Egyptian women have been a model of giving, loyalty, and strength since ancient times, and that they have always been considered milestones for the Egyptian civilization and a symbol of creativity and success.
The ceremony included a review of the center's most important publications on women, and the latest publications in Italian and English, as well as screening a film on female translators who won the center's awards, and a documentary film entitled "The Heroin of Mount Olympus: Munira Karawan" which deals with the biography of Karwan.
This is in addition to another documentary on the creative Suhair el-Qalamawi, one of the most distinguished feminist models.
