CAIRO – 25 February 2021: The book "International Trademark Registration According to the Madrid System between International Texts and National Legislation" is the first Arabic book to deal with the articles governing international registration, according to international texts, from a legal perspective, discussing its legislative impact on America, the European Union and Egypt.
The author, Walid Amin - Consultant and Expert on Intellectual Property – proposed to the Council of Ministers and the Trademark Administration the first draft to regulate the international registration of marks in Egypt, to have a special section in the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Law No. 82 of 2002 that regulates this matter, like most world countries, including America, European Union, Japan and England.
The proposed draft is concerned with lifting the obstacles facing the foreign investor and enhancing the national revenue without prejudice to small, medium or even micro-national companies.
It is noteworthy that Egypt joined the "Madrid System" for international registration of marks in July 1, 1952.
This accession had no legislative effect on the applicable law at the time (Law No. 57 of 1939 regarding trademarks and commercial data), or even the current Intellectual Property Rights Protection Law No. 82 of the year 2002.
