CAIRO – 24 February 2021: Archaeological researcher Ahmed Amer said that Al-Buhaira governorate is considered a rich governorate, full of Islamic and Coptic antiquities, stressing that it contains a treasure of antiquities.

Among those antiquities are the house of Othman Agha Al-Amosili and the house of Arab Kli, which has become a national museum showing the resilience of the city. That is in addition to the house of Ramadan, where Othman Agha, the governor of Rashid, lived during the Fraser campaign.

Also, the governorate houses many other historic houses each with a significant story behind it.

The archaeological researcher added that Al-Buhaira has a number of historical mosques, such as the Zaghloul mosque, the oldest mosque in the city, and Al-Jundi mosque, the third largest in Rashid.

Moreover, Amer explained that the Citadel of Qaitbay, located on the western shore of the Nile in the city of Rashid; the Abu al-Rish Gate; and the museum park located in front of the Rashid National Museum, are all located in Al-Buhaira.
