CAIRO – 22 February 2021: According to Hussein Kamal, the Grand Egyptian Museum is about to implement a display scenario for the Golden Pharaoh, King Tutankhamun, within the next few weeks.
Kamal stated that the restoration of the king’s possessions has been completed, in preparation for displaying them in a hall dedicated solely to the possessions of Tutankhamun, which spans over an area of 7000 square meters.
The entire possessions of the Golden King will be displayed altogether in one place for the first time.
Kamal explained that certain pieces of Tutankhamun’s collections remain in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir. Those possessions do not require any restoration, such as the jewelry collection. He further clarified that some other possessions might need slight restoration due to their great condition.
About the implementation plan of the museum’s display scenario for the collection of King Tutankhamun, Kamal added that the implementation will be carried out through a weekly list.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced in January that the total number of artifacts transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum reached 54,223 pieces.
