CAIRO – 18 February 2021: The restoration centers of the Grand Egyptian Museum completed the restoration of a scarf discovered inside the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Sarah Ismail, a restoration specialist at the Grand Egyptian Museum, said that the piece was among the possessions of King Tutankhamun and was received by the Organic Antiquities Laboratory.

Studies are done on each piece the laboratory receives, in addition to tests, analysis and imaging using the Yd and RI bulbs, so that it is known whether the layers are coherent or not.

The restoration specialist at the Grand Egyptian Museum explained that a work plan was placed, as the condition of the scarf was moderate and not bad. Ismail further indicated that the piece, after stretching, reached a length of about 4 meters and 80 cm, and it took about 3 weeks to be restored.
