CAIRO – 14 February 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said that former Minister of Culture Tharwat Okasha was one of the knights of the July 1952 Revolution, and one of the most prominent symbols of culture in Egypt and the Arab world.
Abdel Dayem further stated that Okasha “reformulated the Egyptians ’conscience”, succeeded in leading and establishing the infrastructure for culture in Egypt, and devised a grand strategy for its advancement.
She added that Okasha created many edifices and wrote a lot of books in art, thought and culture; creativity on his hands witnessed a state of prosperity and brilliance.
Furthermore, Abdel Dayem stated that the celebration of Okasha's centenary comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s plan to celebrate the icons of Egypt, in recognition of their achievements, which contributed to preserving Egypt's civilizational leadership, and to place them in the circle of interest of the new generations.
Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem continued that the celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of late Tharwat Okasha witnesses a group of diverse activities and events, held in various governorates and organized by the ministry's bodies and sectors. It will be continuing throughout the current year 2021.
This came on the occasion of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s inauguration of the celebrations of the centenary of Tharwat Okasha, which begins with a musical evening for the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, which was founded and inspired by him, during which the Minister of Culture will honor Okasha in the presence of his family members.
