CAIRO – 7 February 2021: Dar al-Maarif Foundation announced discounts on all its publications in all its branches, with discounts on book prices reaching 50 percent, starting from February 6 and for a period of two weeks.
Dar al-Maarif has 20 branches nationwide, in Cairo, Zagazig, Tanta, Mansoura, Assiut, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, Arish, Sohag, Aswan, and Qena.
The foundation was established by its owner Naguib Mitri in the year 1890 as a commercial printing press on the ground floor of a large house that was carrying the number 70 Faggala Street (famous at the time as the printing press street).
This building was owned by Khalil al-Zahhar and was bought by Abd al-Rahim al-Demerdashi Pasha.
The foundation influenced the Arab Library by publishing the works of many of the great writers such as Taha Hussein, Tawfiq al-Hakim, Al-Mazni, Mohammad Mandour, Ibrahim Nagi, Ahmed Hassan el-Zayyat, Aisha Abdel Rahman, Shawqi Dhaif, Ahmed Mestajir and Sayed Shalabi.
It is the only house that allowed all political sects to publish in its printing presses from the books Fundamentalism, Salafism, Marxism and Communism.
