1878 - Greece declares war on the Ottoman Empire in solidarity with the Russian Empire.
1957 - The United Nations issues a resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Egyptian territories it still occupies, and a decision to expand the jurisdiction of the United Nations emergency forces so that it becomes a buffer between Israel and Egypt.
