'Preparing Museums to include Persons with Special Needs' seminar to be held on Jan. 26

CAIRO – 25 January 2021: The General Administration for Museum Education for Individuals with Special Needs in the Supreme Council of Antiquities will broadcast a lecture under the title “Preparing Museums to Include Persons with Special Needs”, via Zoom application on January 26 at 7:30 p.m.

The lecture will be prepared and presented by Amal Ezzat, a psychological and educational consultant for people with special needs, and chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hope City Foundation.

This lecture comes within the framework of the fruitful and joint cooperation between the General Administration of Museum Education for People with Special Needs in the Museums Sector of the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Hope City Foundation for Persons with Disabilities.

On her part, General Supervisor of the General Administration of Museum Education for People with Special Needs Tahani Noah indicated that the lecture will deal with the definition of museum according to the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the definition of an integrated museum, how to make museums available and facilitate access to them, and the concept of comprehensive design for learning and its use in museums.

The lecture will also tackle raising the museum’s efficiency, qualifying it to be an integrated museum that includes people with different needs, and ways to prepare and train museum curators to deal with people with different disabilities.

Noah added that this lecture comes in light of the role played by the administration, to qualify the community to support and empower people with special needs by discovering their talents and abilities to integrate them into society, as an effective step on the road to sustainable development - Egypt 2030.
