CAIRO– 19 January 2021: On the occasion of the re-opening of the Egyptian Post Museum after its restoration, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities gave the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology an archaeological carriage used for transporting postal items in 1870, which was within the collection of the Royal Carriages Museum.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, thanked Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enany for this special gift.

The Egyptian Post Museum already includes many treasures and rare items that highlight the development of the role of the post and its services in Egypt.

He said that the museum uses modern technologies in displaying the collections and presenting them with a modern look that reflects the heritage of the Egyptian Post Office that blends originality and contemporary items.

It was agreed on this gift during the inspection visit of the two ministers, last month, to the museum.

It is worth noting that the carriage for transporting antique postal materials, Chassis No. 182/2, was among the carriages used to receive mail from train stations and transport them to small cities.

Such carriages were brought from England in the year 1880, where they were intended to carry the luggage and mail of the king in the 20th century.

It is in the form of a large box made of wood, with a closed back door, two doors and a high front driver's chair made of wood.
