"In Reviving our Heritage" symposium to be held at French Institute on Jan. 31

CAIRO – 17 January 2021: The French Institute is organizing a symposium entitled "In Reviving our Heritage” on January 31 at 6 p.m.

The symposium reviews a display of heritage, where a community in El-Darb El-Ahmar was enthusiastic through the experience of restoring and rehabilitating Bayt Yakan to rediscover the essence and values​​of their heritage.

The presentation summarizes the achievements of the time, and presents hopes and visions for the future for the Yakani Quarter and Historic Cairo.

Professor of Architecture and Heritage Preservation, and Head of the Department of Architecture at Menoufia University Alaa el-Habashi will speak during the symposium.

He holds a master's and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, and has many publications, all of which aim to find mechanisms for preserving heritage that respect local values.
