CAIRO – 13 January 2021: The General Authority for Cultural Palaces continues to present the activities of the “Industrialists of Egypt” initiative at the Ismailia Culture Palace. The initiative aims to use art to raise awareness of the ancient Egyptian crafts, and to teach young people a craft they can benefit from and use as a source of livelihood.
The activities include the beads workshop, and the prominent wood sculpture workshop conducted by plastic artist Ahmed Allam, where he began by defining the types of Egyptian wood, its colors, the difference between its hardness, the trends in the fruit of the timber, the difference between Egyptian and other woods, and their advantages over imported wood.
The workshop aims to train young people on how to use art to produce a good product from woodcarving and converting defected products into a work of art of high value.
