CAIRO – 31 December 2020: Artist Ahmed Abdel Fattah, head of the Central Department of Museums of the Fine Arts Sector, revealed that the sector is working in full swing to speed up the completion of the development of the Mahmoud Khalil Museum.
The museum is scheduled to be reopened in 2021.
Abdel Fattah said in press statements that the sector is waiting for the installation of electrical panels and once the electricity works are completed the museum will be ready for the opening.
It is worth noting that the Mohammad Mahmoud Khalil Museum is an Egyptian museum located in the Giza district.
Founded by Mohammad Mahmoud Khalil, it housed high-value art collections. Before passing away in 1953, Khalil had granted these objects to his wife to recommend them and the palace as a museum for the Egyptian government after her death.
The palace opened as a museum for the first time in 1962. It was then transferred to Prince Amr Ibrahim's palace in Zamalek in 1971, and then reopened in Zamalek in 1979.
The museum's holdings include a rare collection of Japanese-style Enro cases, which are the holdings that occupy the ground floor of the museum, along with the first and second floors, while the basement occupies the administration, library, information center and a large hall for research discussion.
