CAIRO – 23 December 2020: The Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Mustafa El-Feki chairs, on December 23, an intellectual meeting organized by the library in Cairo under the title: "Human Rights and Double Standards".

The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in one of the major hotels in Cairo.

The meeting aims to shed light on the contradiction between Egypt's belief in the ideals and the noble values of the human rights system, which Egypt has actively participated in the countries of the world in laying its foundations and drafting its charters and international agreements emanating from it since the issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948 until the present day, and between attempts and actions taken by major countries in using the defense of human rights in Egypt as a pretext to break into the internal affairs to assess their situation in a manner that is accompanied by prejudices and false results, which leads to the perpetuation of a policy of double standards.

In this regard, it is driven by ambitions to achieve its own interests or in the service of different regional or international arrangements that it seeks to impose, at that delicate stage in which Egypt is waging fierce battles against terrorism to eliminate its strongholds, and devotes the maximum of its energies to continuing its great renaissance march to build a secure, stable society that preserves the dignity of every citizen who lives on its land, protects human rights, and provides citizens with a decent living and a safe life.

The meeting will also shed light on the Egyptian efforts to confront the policy of double standards at the international level and the role of cultural, media and religious institutions in educating the Egyptian citizen about a sound culture of human rights in a way that preserves their rights, and that the state holds its sovereignty in facing foreign interference in this regard.
