CAIRO – 23 December 2020: On December 23, many important events took place that changed the world. On this day, many stars of art, politics, and literature were born.  The day also marks the celebration of annual events.

962 - Byzantine forces storm the city of Aleppo during the Arab-Byzantine wars under the command of Naqfur Fukas, who later became emperor.

1847 - Emir Abdelkader al-Jazairi surrenders to the French.

1881 - The first Egyptian parliament is called to convene.

1912 - Inauguration of the Aswan Dam in Egypt.

1913 - The founding of the US Central Bank.

1919 - The United States launches a medical ambulance ship, which is the first ship in the world in this field under the name "Relief".

1921 - The British authorities arrest Saad Zaghloul and his companions and deport them to the Seychelles.

1956 - The withdrawal of British and French forces from the Suez Canal is completed.

1958 The Tokyo Tower, the highest iron tower in the world, is inaugurated.

1961 - President Gamal Abdel Nasser announces the nationalization of all foreigners' property and prevents the French from entering Egypt after four of them are arrested on charges of espionage and conspiracy against him.

1963 - Gamal Abdel Nasser calls for an emergency Arab summit to confront the danger of Israel diverting water from the Jordan River.
