CAIRO – 22 December 2020: The Egyptian Opera House is organizing the Alexandria Opera Cinema Club in cooperation with the National Film Center and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Alexandria, on December 25 at 7 p.m.
The Russian documentary film "Ibn Sina", produced during the former Soviet Union in 1956, will be screened. It sheds light on the life of the philosopher and physician Ibn Sina.
The Alexandria Opera House indicated in a statement Tuesday, that the film focuses on the medical precautions that the world applies today to confront COVID-19, and that Ibn Sina was the scientist who was first to warn that diseases are transmitted by microbes, and also the first to find a way to isolate people for forty days, later known as "Arbaeneya" or "quarantine".
This method then reached Europe and was used to isolate suspected patients. He was able to predict this 10 centuries ago.
The screening of the film will be followed by an artistic and awareness seminar.
