CAIRO – 15 December 2020: Baghdadi Big Band, led by Maestro Magdy Baghdadi, is holding an artistic concert on December 17 at 8:00 p.m. at the Cairo Opera Small Theater, as part of the opera's celebration of Christmas.
Baghdadi said that the concert includes a number of artistic surprises, including the performance of a number of international jazz acts, in addition to the participation of performers from Cuba and Argentina who will perform dances in harmony with some of the musical works included in the program.
He added that, as usual, the band provides an opportunity for promising talents to participate.
He pointed out that the concert’s program includes a collection of the most famous jazz compositions and Christmas songs.
It is noteworthy that Magdy Baghdadi graduated from the Cairo Conservatory in 1982 and obtained a diploma in playing the trumpet with distinction and a doctorate degree from the Higher School of Music and Art Production in Germany.
Since 1990 he worked as a professor of the trumpet at the Cairo Conservatory. He held the position of the first trumpet player in the Cairo Symphony Orchestra from 1983 to 1997 and was the leader of the Woodwind and Percussion Orchestra at the Conservatory between 1997 and 2003.
He founded his band, Baghdad Band, in 1996. It is the first Egyptian band specializing in Western music that includes a group of the most talented Egyptian musicians.
Baghdadi held several positions at the Higher Institute of Conservatoire at the Academy of Arts and held the position of President of the Artistic House of Music, Opera and Ballet
