Egypt’s Sector of Fine Arts organizes 2 exhibitions on Dec. 2

CAIRO – 1 December 2020: The Sector of Fine Arts will organize two exhibitions at the Al-Gezira Arts Center in Zamalek, on December 2, at 7 p.m.

The first exhibition will be titled “Visions of the Artist Tayseer Hamed”.  It is scheduled to present a collection of his most prominent artistic works in the Ahmed Sabry Gallery in the center.

On the same day, the exhibition “Takamol al-Rouh” [Integration of the Soul], by the artist Mohammad Saud, will be opened, as he will present his works in the Ragheb Ayyad Gallery in the center.

It is noteworthy that the Fine Arts Sector previously opened and developed the Museum of Modern Art after 10 years of closure.

What distinguishes the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art lies in its presentation of a panoramic image and advanced techniques for creative work since the beginning of the twentieth century.

Strenuous efforts have been made to reopen it so that the museum regains its entire visiting capacity. It had been closed since 2010 after it was partially opened in 2014 and then closed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is worth noting that the museum is located inside the campus of the Egyptian Opera House, and is considered one of the most important and prominent museums in Egypt.

It houses outstanding artworks from different generations and eras, as the idea to create a museum housing masterpieces of art dates back to 1927, after Mahmoud Khalil succeeded in persuading the Sarai to issue a royal decree to form an advisory committee for the care of fine arts, where the committee recommended the establishment of the Museum of Modern Art in Cairo.
