Assala on Instagran - Official account.
CAIRO – 30 June 2017: Syrian singer Assala Nasri was arrested at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut on Sunday for possession of cocaine in her makeup bag.
Nasri denied that the drugs belonged to her, claiming she did not know who placed the cocaine in the bags. Nasri was found with 5 grams of cocaine in her bag, likely for personal use.
Following detainment, Nasri was released upon signing a pledge to undergo drug testing every time she visits Lebanon.
Nassri commented on Tuesday for the first time on her Instagram account about the drug trouble she faced in Lebanon.
In the statement she published, Nassri showed her gratitude for everyone who supported her in the latest difficult situation; she also blamed some journalists and described them as “yellow people.” She said she was shocked and brokenhearted about what happened, but was appreciative of all the love, care and trust shown to her.
“I have trust in myself and I’m not used to being accused, or to have to clarify what’s happening with me,” Nassri posted on Instagram, adding that she adores Lebanon but she would not return there until it protects her instead of being unfair.
Nassri noted that she has hope for a better tomorrow, and she has always been a role model and faithful to people with love and trust. She is waiting for justice and she will still fight her freedom.
Nassri’s family reacted to what happened on social media in different ways. Her daughter, Sham al-Zahabi, took a photo of her and wrote, “I can understand my chemistry, physics and sciences in General, regardless of their complexity, but nevertheless I cannot do the same with human beings.”
Nassri posted the picture on Friday and commented that she agrees with her daughter, and she believes that humans are kind, and that there is a small minority trying to destroy us, adding that she is still sure that goodness will prevail in the end.“
Wednesday Nassri brother, Anas Nassri shared Nassri’s statement on Instagram.
The following Thursday he also posted a photo for her with Nassri and her three sons and wrote, “Vacation, Family, Cairo.”
Egyptian director Tarek El Arian, and Nassri’s husband have not posted anything in the last few days that relates to his wife’s trouble. He appeared in a photo with Nassri and her brother at the Airport in Beirut after she was released, but Nassri later removed the photo from her Instagram account.
El Arian posted a photo on Thursday with his sons Ali and Adam and greeted his followers for the Eid holiday.
