CAIRO - 22 November 2020: Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights honored the casts of “El Ekhteyar” ( The Choice) “100 Wesh” ( 100 Faces) and “El Fetwa” ( The strong man) series.

“100 Wesh” or “La Casa de Bolaq’’ as viewers on social media have branded it, likening it to Le Casa de Papel, was the funniest offering this Ramadan.

Sokkar and Omar came from two different worlds but have a common goal: to be millionaires, as is clear from the theme song of the series which has become very popular.

Though the two swindlers each have their own ways of pulling off cons, they decide to come together and use their criminal skills to work on a number of jobs.

This is a very simple comedy that is free of any complications or sophisticated plot turns, and you don’t have to concentrate much on its tiny details to understand its sequence.

But what’s made the series so appealing from the very first episode is that it houses two huge and popular stars, each of them used to playing the leading role and who have stepped completely out of their comfort zones and are not even comedians!

Karim is famed for her tragic, social as well as romantic roles and Yassin’s forte is mystery and suspense, social, romantic and action roles.

Both took a big risk with Be 100 Wesh which has really paid off. With the producer and the director at the helm, the series has wowed both Egyptian and Arab audiences because of both Karim and Yassin’s sense of humor and entertaining spirit that just needed a chance like Be 100 Wesh to come out on screen.

With memorable lines like “Bye Sugar” shared endlessly on social media, the series, though light, is not shallow, a pitfall many comedies tend to fall into.

All the series episodes have had a number of well written and greatly executed drama lines. Karim’s is a little cliché— the girl who belongs to a poor social class and has a lot of responsibilities so she turns to swindling to solve her family’s financial problems—but Yassin’s one is new.

He looks rich but deep inside he suffers from a huge problem because of his father and becomes a conman to keep up appearances (his and his mother’s) among his acquaintances.

The relationship between Omar and his mother (veteran actress Salwa Mohamed Ali) is well written in the script and the strong chemistry between them is very clear on screen.

Beside Karim and Yassin, the series stars Ola Roushdy, Loai Omran, Islam Ibrahim, Salwa Mohamed Ali and Hassan Abul rouss among others. "Be Meet Wesh" is written by Amr el-Daly and Ahmed Wael and directed by kamla Abou Zekri.

Egypt’s Ministry of Manpower and Immigration translated the last three episodes of the acclaimed Egyptian patriotic series “El-Ekhteyar” (The Choice) to both English and French.

This comes within the ministry's efforts to raise the national awareness of the Egyptian expatriates and help them to preserve their Egyptian identity.

We all love Egypt and its army but this series reminded us how deep this love is and how our Egyptian army men are sacrificing their lives daily to preserve our homeland's security, progress and prosperity.

This national epic united all the Egyptians with its credible content that gives us a brief, yet honest, look at the life, logic, thoughts and noble principals of our army soldiers, champions and martyrs.

"El-Ekhteyar" highlighted as well the dark terrorists’ principals and thoughts, which are based on blood, betrayal, and opportunism.

"El-Ekhteyar" is the first Egyptian series which managed to document and archive the several military operations that took place in Sinai against terrorists and the many Egyptian officers and soldiers who lost their precious lives in the battle.

Each episode presents a patriotic lesson and principal given by late great Egyptian martyr Ahmed el-Mansy and his colleagues, showing us the greatness of the Egyptian army.

Mansy is the commander of the Thunderbolt Forces, who was killed during the clashes between the Egyptian army forces and militants as the army besieged groups of terrorists and foiled attacks that targeted a number of other checkpoints in the Rafah area in North Sinai in 2017.

"El-Ekhteyar" introduces us to the human being deep inside this exceptional hero and why he was a Legend.

"El-Ekhteyar" houses a notable group of talented actors such as Amir Karara , Ahmed Elawady, Dina Fouad, Hanan Youssef, Sara Adel, Ahmed Fouad Selim, in addition to a notable group of guests of honor such as Eyad Nassar, Mohamed Emam, Salah Abdallah , Mohamed Ragab, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Asser Yassin, Amr Gamal, Maged el-Masry, Ahmed Wafik, among others. The series is written by Baher Dewidar and directed by Peter Mimi.

El Fetwa series is set during the era of the “Fetewas” (Tough Guys) in Egypt in the world of ghettos and shabby neighborhoods controlled by a group of “tough guys,” who bore the responsibility of the people.

The series  is starring Yasser Galal, Ahmed Salah Hosni, Mai Omar, Nagla Badr, Riyad el-Khouli, Ahmed Khalil, Hanadi Muhanna, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Laila Ahmed Zahir, Maha Nassar, Ahmed Gamal Saeed, Aida Riyad, Magdy Fikry, Ahdi Sadiq, Ghafran Mohammad and Azzouz Adel.

Written by Hani Sarhan and directed by Hussein al-Manbawi, the series comes as the second successive cooperation between Yasser Galal, Hany Sarhan, Hussein al-Manbawi and the leading production company Synergy.
